Perception

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all well. It has certainly been a while since I posted a blog piece. The past few months have been rather turbulent. Life took a very surprising turn and with each moment came a new instance which I did not anticipate. It almost felt like my little world was coming crashing down as I slipped away with nothing in sight to hold on to. But time heals. With time, we move further away from these instances and what once seemed almost unbearable, becomes a distant memory, a shadow in the horizon. Life is about perception. Our outlook. The way we view the events that unfold before us really determines how well we are able to handle the situation and recover from the unpleasant instances.

I went through a series of trials and tribulations recently. One situation after another. With no breathing space in between. It just felt that everything I touched crumbled. Emotions were soon replaced with a numbing feeling. Helplessness was my existence. I was no longer sure whether I should take a step forwards, back track, or perhaps sideways. I found no route, no path and could not see what I was supposed to do to ameliorate and better the situations. The feeling that your life is not in your control is awful. No matter what people were saying in order to be encouraging did not matter because I no longer saw a way. I was falling and no one could save me. It felt like I was losing a piece of myself with each moment, each trial, each tribulation.

Through this period, I learnt that ones perception is key. You can either look at the situation(s) you’re having to deal with as a black hole and refuse to get back up. Or, you can look at it as a learning experience; take something away, for yourself. I chose to get back up, learn and heal. I realised that it didn’t matter how much (or little) support you have. The answer, always, lies within. It is you that needs to choose to get back up, fight and keep going no matter the hurdles that may be present. You have to make that decision. The choice is yours and yours alone. Someone may try to help get you back up, but unless you choose to stand, their efforts would make very little difference.

I try to live my life with no regrets. As long as you know you are doing your best to be the best version of yourself you can be, then that’s what truly matters. Life is not perfect, it wasn’t intended to be. Things will get difficult sometimes but it’s important to not let the negativity consume you. There is so much more to life and no one is defined by the difficulties they encounter. What defines you are your choices and actions. I know it is hard to focus on the positive things you have in your life when the dark days are present, but it is important not to lose yourself in that darkness. It will pass. So don’t be so hard on yourself. Get back up, dust yourself off and keep going as life is a journey. And, remember, you are enough and you are stronger than you know.
So, as we bid farewell to the last few days of 2017 and prepare to welcome a new year with all its mysteries, I say thanks. Thank you 2017. It hasn’t been easy, but you have shown me what I never knew before. You taught me what I needed to learn. I saw what I needed to see.

I wish you are all well for the New Year that is almost upon us. Stay positive. Be good to those around you. Smile, laugh, be free and appreciate each moment.

What are your new year’s resolution? I would love to hear from you.

Also pass this message along to those whom you feel needs a little boost.

Stay awesome,

Sheen xxxxx
