Lip Product Haul- Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

Hi Everyone!
Hope you are all doing well. Looking forward to spring?
I have recently been looking for some lip products in shades that I would not typically go for. Usually my safe zone involves matte, subtle nude shades. I did however want something which would be effortless to apply and touch up throughout the day. The Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters is a product which I have been contemplating on getting for a while. It was actually a matter of which shades to go for which delayed my purchase of these little beauties as I wanted to get that perfect tone!

After numerous visits to the drugstore and many swatches later, I finally decided to get these lip butters in the following shades:

040- Red Velvet
096- Macaroon
001- Pink Truffle

040- Red Velvet
Red velvet was definitely a leap of faith for me as Red lip products are not what I would normally gravitate towards. Once I got home (and photographed the products… ofcourse) I tried it on and actually totally fell in love with this shade! I especially found this easy to work with since I could build up the product to achieve the vibrancy (or lack of it) that I wanted. Red velvet certainly suits the name as this shade is a gorgeous deep velvety red.

096- Macaroon
Since spring is merely round the corner, I really wanted to get something pretty and pink. This a beautiful peachy pink shade which appears very well suited for the spring and summer seasons.

001- Pink Truffle
Pink truffle is a shade which I consider to be in my comfort zone! I absolutely adore this shade. It is a lovely cross between dusky pink and brown in colour. Due to the subtleness of this shade, it can easily be applied on the go and for those quick touch ups during the day.

The following are the swatches for the shades (top to bottom) Macaroon, Pink Truffle and Red Velvet.

I think for those who do not normally wear lip products or if there is particular shade which you do not normally wear but would like to reach out to, these lip butters would be a great place to start. Advantages include the fact that upon a light application they are quite sheer but can certainly be built up to achieve greater intensity. Since they are lip butters though, the lasting power of these products are not incredibly long, but as they can pretty much be applied easily it should not be too much of a hassle to top up these beauties during the course of the day.

If you do wish to try this product, it would be advisable to swatch them in a store first or have a look at swatches online since the intensity of the different shades vary. Some of the shades such as red velvet are more powerful on a simple application in comparison to others such as pink truffle which are more sheer.

Have you tried the Revlon Lip Butters? What shades would you recommend?

What are your spring/ summer must have cosmetics?

I would love to hear your thoughts :)

  1. I don't know how I feel about the Revlon Lip Butters. I own one but I don't find myself reaching for it a lot. I find that it leaves a grainy feeling on my lips and doesn't have a lot of pigmentation. I think if I was to buy another one it would have to be one that's really bright! But, I'm glad you enjoy them as I know many people do. Lovely post :)

    1. Hiya! Thanks for the visiting and the comment :)
Ah if its leaving a grainy feeling perhaps it maybe due to an allergic reaction?
The colours are lovely.. and i feel that even if you go for a bright colour it would be comfortable to wear because it feels light on the lips and some of the shades are more sheer than others. I think red velvet is a lovely rich color to go for.
