Au revoir 2013... Bonne Annee!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the festive period!

Still very hard to believe that we are at the end of the year... already!
I think most would agree that this year has flown by.... incredibly fast.
Reason more why we should make the most of each moment in life before it passes us by.

So people say new year new beginnings. I would love to hear about your new year's resolution.
What has been your most striking and memorable moments of the past year?

That's the beauty of each year... the mystery. A whole new chapter... although it isn't exactly a new beginning as we will still be the same person living the same lives we were the previous year- but that new calender does somehow signify something right? It gives one hope that whatever the outcome of the previous year, good or not so peachy, we can always try to make the year ahead better than the last. A year older, a year wiser, and many more opportunities to better ourselves and make sound decisions.

Whether the past year has turned out to be a great success or not worked out as well as you had hoped, keep your head held high and have no regrets. Each day is a new chance to right those wrongs, take a risk, welcome new relationships, and bid farewell to all those gloomy days as the new dawn approaches.

This was my first year blogging and I must admit it has definitely proven to be my favourite activity!
Combining my love for beauty, fashion and writing this has really been one of the highlights of my year.
Meeting lovely people, attending enjoyable events and being part of a community where ideas and interests are shared has been remarkable!

I would love to hear from you! Anything exciting for the new year? Anything you are happy to be bidding farewell to along with the year that passes?

Feel free to leave me a comment. If you also have a blog do leave your links :)

I would like to wish you all a fantastic year ahead filled with peace, happiness and health.

Remember to smile and be happy!

The Starting Off Project- Summary

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all well!
Sadly The Starting Off Project (#theSOproject) has come to an end!

The aim of the project was to provide advice/experience/opinion of products which fall in the weekly categories to an audience ranging from those who are ‘starting off’ and are new to the world of makeup and beauty to those seeking tips and advice. Along with my posts I have tried to include some tips which  can hopefully help you along the way.
I was really excited for this opportunity. As well as attempting to share details of my favourite products and provide readers with advice/personal experiences regarding various products, it also gave me a chance to learn more from others.

The project ran over a course of 10 weeks and began on Tuesday 27th August 2013.

The following are the different category that was covered each week.

Week 8: Eyeshadow

I did not write a specific eyeshadow post as part of theSOproject. I had previously reviewed the Sleek eyeshadow palettes which is certainly a product that I love. I think that they would be suitable for most as there are now a range of palettes to choose from.  If you are someone who is 'starting' off with makeup or new to the world of eyeshadows, I think that these palettes are a nice place to start.

I hope you liked the project and found the posts to be helpful/ enjoyable to read  :)

Week 10 - Starting Off Project: Week 10: Make up tools

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone has had an awesome week!

It is the FINAL week of The SO Project (#theSOproject)... where has the past 10 weeks gone?! Really sad to see the project end!

The category this week is Make Up Tools.
Lets commence…

Make up tools are used to aid in the application of cosmetics to ultimate give a flawless finish. There are many different types of make up tools available and it can be quite tricky to choose the correct applicator and use them for accordingly. Numerous brands sell their own brushes but I do like to look around since prices and quality do vary. Also bear in mind that paying more for an item does not always equal to quality.

Makeup Brushes
The following brushes are would be great to check especially if you are on a budget.

There are many different types of brushes and for many different functions from applying foundations and concealers to applying eyeliners and eyeshadows.

The above image consists of brushes from Ecotools and E.L.F.

1.       Blush Brush
I use this as a powder brush. I have found the rounded shape to be very useful when powder be it pressed or loose powder.

2.       Lash and Brow Groomer
The comb side is great for separating the lashes after applying mascara. The brush side is ok. It does the job relatively well, however I have noticed that the bristle does tend to fan out and separate.

3.       Concealer brush
The shape of the concealer brush is great for applying concealer on the delicate areas under the eyes.

4.       Eye shadow Brush
Great for application as well as blending the product. I prefer using eyeshadow brushes to apply the products rather than the eyeshadow sponges.

5.       Eyeliner brush
My favourite! This little beauty is wonderful for applying eyeliner. I have especially been using it to apply eyeliner to the bottom lash line. Also great for smudging out the product, be it liner or eye shadow, on the top lid to achieve a more smokey eye effect.
This type of brush is also very useful for defining the eye brows.

 6.       Contour brush
The shape of this brush makes it nice and easy to add shadows/highlights to the face creating lovely contouring and accentuating the facial bone structure.

7.       Eyeshadow brush
Lovely for applying eyeshadows and blending the product.

8.       Lip Defining brush
Helps in smooth application of lip products. Especially useful when your lip stick has finished- you can use this brush to nicely get to the remainder of that gorgeous lip stick stuck in the tube!

9.       Smudge Eye Sponge
This brush can be used to smudge/ blend eyeshadow. It can also be used to smudge khol eyeliner to create dramatic smokey eye looks.

10.   Eyeshadow sponge brush
These applicators are usually supplied with eyeshadows. However I do not always find them useful for applying the product. I feel that they tend to absorb the product making it difficult to use.

I sure do love powder and blush brushes!

Sponges! Lets not undermine the usefulness of these applicators! Although I do like using brushes to apply make up, I do like going back to my sponges every now and again.

I use these when applying products to specific areas that I would like to conceal such as blemishes. They are gentle and easy to use.

At times I also use sponges to aid in the application of contours or blushes.

Tweezers- great for some facial grooming!

Eyebrow pencil and brush
I really like this Rimmel eyebrow pencil. To read my review on this product please click here.

So this is the final post for The Starting Off Project (#theSOproject). Really sad to see this project end.
I would like to thank Steph from Steph’s Inside Voice for creating it!

I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in this project. Along the way I have learnt a lot and introduced to many lovely blogs.

I will be doing an additional post with a summary of my posts for this project so please do check it out!

I hope you have enjoyed reading these posts :)

Stay tuned since there is another project coming up soon!
